City of Jacksonville Preservation Award
On Wildwood Road in Arlington you’ll find an architectural gem known as the Butterfly House. The home is a mid-century modern building designed by revered architect Bob Broward—a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. Broward was a Jacksonville-based architect who designed over 500 projects during his career.
The Butterfly House was built in 1957. The home is named for its most prominent feature—a roof with upward angles that resembles a butterfly in flight. Time has taken a toll on the historic home, but fortunately its new owner had a vision of restoring the house to its former glory.
When Reliant Roofing heard that the Butterfly House was being restored, we reached out to its new owner, Kathryn Stater. We wanted to provide our services to restore the very thing that makes this home so special—its roof.
Because of the work that we were able to accomplish in restoring such a historical roof for the Butterfly House, Reliant Roofing received the City of Jacksonville Preservation Award. Reliant Roofing is proud to have contributed to the revival an iconic Jacksonville home that can once again spread its wings.
