There arenโt enough words in the dictionary to describe the significance of giving back. Even the most simple acts of benevolence, the ones we think of as โrandom acts of kindnessโ or โno big dealโ, these are actually some of the most important things that we can do.
We started our Every Shingle Heart Initiative after Hurricane Matthew in 2017. We recognized that there was a tremendous need in Northeast Florida. Homes were devastated. In 2017, we gave 3 roofs to families in need. In 2018 we gave two roofs to families in need, and a new roof to a local nonprofit organization.
Letโs take a moment to talk about one of our recipients from last year. Glenn Rodgers, an 81 year old veteran and pastor in Jacksonville lost his wife at the end of 2017. They were married for 62 years. Shortly after, he lost his daughter, leaving behind a 6 year old and an 8 year old for him to take care of. His home was old and his roof was in horrible condition due to storms from over the years. We provided him a new roof right before the holidays, in hope to restore some sort of closure and warmth to his home after everything his family has faced. We tell you this story to say that you never know the impact you can have on someoneโs life just by lending a helping hand. Winston Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
We are grateful to the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) for this recognition, and are proud to be associated with an organization whose purpose of promoting high ethical standards aligns with our own passion. So thank you, again, to the FRSA and to all of the members for recognizing our heartfelt efforts to support our community.
