S.T.A.R.—Spotlight Trophy for the Advancement of Roofing is an awards program designed by the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) to recognize members’ unique and outstanding projects completed in the state of Florida. A panel evaluates the entries for inclusion and outstanding performance in each category. Judging criteria is inclusive of, but not limited to: aesthetics, size, completion time, special circumstances, unique project design, complexity of project, workmanship, teamwork, testimonials, creative problem solving.
A few weeks ago, two of our employees went to Orlando to accept a prestigious S.T.A.R. Award, presented by the FRSA for Community Service efforts regarding our Every Shingle Heart Initiative. Kim Petrunic, our Client Coordinator, and Adrienne Menzies, our Director of Public Relations, felt proud to accept this award on behalf of our President, Cameron Shouppe, CEO, Sean Shapiro, and our entire Reliant Roofing Team.
After Hurricane Matthew, we recognized that there was a tremendous need in our community. Homes were devastated and many residents had never experienced replacing their roof or filing an insurance claim, much less saving for the enormous hurricane deductible. Cameron and Sean decided that this was an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported our growing company since we started in the summer of 2015. They thought if each business would commit to helping just one family in need, we could make our community a much better place.
The Every Shingle Heart Initiative was created to give one family a new roof, at no cost; however, after reading through the submissions, it was impossible to choose just one. Seeing each person dealing with their own struggles, touched our hearts. We knew we could do more. This year we have received over 200 nominees and we will again be donating another three roofs to the most deserving families.
We are grateful to the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) for this recognition, and are proud to be associated with an organization whose purpose of promoting high ethical standards aligns with our own passion for providing an amazing customer experience and high levels of quality and service. So thank you, again, to the FRSA and to all of the members for recognizing our heartfelt efforts to support our community. This Shining Star Award is a true honor. We will continue to uphold the highest ethical standards in our industry and to provide extraordinary quality and professionalism to our clients.
