TILE COMMERCIAL ROOFING
While tile roofs are associated with a distinct Spanish or Mediterranean look, their visual possibilities are limitless. Tiles come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. They can be the traditional reddish orange but can also be created in earth tones, vivid blues, purples, and even white, which helps reduce cooling costs. Colored tiles can also be blended. Their shapes vary from flat, round, and wood-shake to replications of centuries-old roofing tiles.
Tile outlasts most other roofing materials, with a longevity of 50 to 100 years or more. Manufacturers commonly offer warranties of 50 to 75 years on tile roofs, which can be expected to outlive the buildings on which they are installed. Tile is the primary roofing material used throughout Europe, where many tile roofs are centuries old and still functional.
The materials are completely natural and abundant and do not deplete limited natural resources. No chemical preservatives are used to manufacture tiles.
While tile roofs do cost more to install, they last two to three times longer than other roof types, and their costs have not increased as much as the costs of other types of roofs. Maintenance of tile roofs is minimal, mostly involving gutters, flashing, and venting. The roof itself requires minimal upkeep.
